Planning permission has recently been awarded for a new 1400m² medical centre and pharmacy in Storrington, West Sussex. As part of a wider masterplan including homes and open spaces, the new premises will replace the existing undersized surgery providing up-to-date facilities with the capacity to cater for the projected rises in patients. The design of the generously sized surgery breaks the building form into smaller scaled elements which identify with the existing context and the scale of the neighbouring proposals. Externally material treatment takes precedent from Storrington, whilst carefully detailed elements give the building its own identity as a modern medical centre.
