Balcony House

Description:

Following some successful planning applications in the local area, Deacon + Richardson were appointed to transform the appearance of this detached property in Ovingdean. The property sits in an elevated position and benefits from extensive views south to the coast.

We approached this project with a contemporary material pallet and the intention to embrace the spectacular views. Our first step to modernising the appearance was to remove the bay windows and hipped roof above. Black PC Aluminium glazing will replace the existing white uPVC. Secondly, we replaced the porch to improve the entry experience into the home. This re-design combined with the removal of the bay windows meant we could create a terrace at first floor. This terrace will be enclosed by a frameless glazed balustrade, which sits neatly above a feature oak band and vertical cladding. The next step was to convert the redundant existing garage into a dedicated home office. Replacing the steel door with large format windows looking south. Finally, a comprehensive set of external works rationalises the existing terraced layout, and greatly improves the approach to the house.

See our rejuvination of a property on Ainsworth Avenue for another example of our work in Ovingdean.
